Judah's Favorite Things

When Judah was just a wee babe, he went through a period of a couple weeks during which he cried and cried and cried, and could not be consoled. I was so frustrated and sad during that time.
One of those cry-days, I was talking to my older brother and told him, "He just won't stop crying!" His response was, "It's okay. He's just very passionate." Even though I was seriously bummed and not in a laughing mood, that comment did make me smile.

Two years later, here is a list of things Judah is currently very passionate about.
(Thankfully, screaming at the top of his ever-loving lungs is no longer one of them. Praise Jesus.)

1. Water.
If you have been following this blog for any length of time, this needs no further explanation. If not, see the two most recent posts.

2. Music.
Specifically guitars. He will play his puppy guitar to any music. He also loves dancing, if the beats are good. Some artists he is currently enjoying: The Postal Service, Jesus Culture, Elmo, Fleet Foxes, Rain For Roots

3. Band-Aids.
Oh, Lord, where do I begin? I think it all started with potty-training reward stickers. He loves stickers. Then, he got a boo-boo and a band-aid one day, and the rest was history. It bears mentioning that his father before him also had a great love of band-aids. The apple and the tree and all that. Anyway, the kid loves him some band-aids, and if he can use up a whole box in one day, so much the better.

4. Puppies, Kitties, and The Like.
Does this need any explanation? Who doesn't love little baby animals? Judah loves to watch You-Tube videos that people post of their little wee baby pets. Not me, though. Nope, I just suffer through the fuzzy baby fur and the teeny baby paws purely for Judah's enjoyment. It's not easy, but he's worth it.

5. Publix.
Race-car cart. Free cookie(or banana!). Balloons! The Cookie Rule.
(You know, the one that says you must stay buckled in your cart to get a cookie? What? You didn't know about that one? Crazy...
So that makes grocery shopping a lot more manageable for this mama. Fun times all around.

6. Outside
If I had a dollar for every time Judah said to me, today, "Mama, I wanna go ah-siiide", I would have at least $45.
I could buy 9 Starbucks drinks!
Or 7 Chipotle lunches!
Or go to the movies twice in one night!
The possibilities are endless...

7. Bubbles
Kind of the same as water, only, apparently one needs an entire brand-new bottle of dish soap, shampoo, or hand soap to achieve the optimal level of bubbly mess disaster fun. Bubbles are expensive! Money can't buy love, but it can buy lots and lots of bubbles, and I'm pretty sure that to Judah they are the one and the same.

Water, Oh, The Water

Continuing with the theme of bathroom disasters, let's talk about today.

Let's talk about how Judah went #2 on the potty, and I do mean on all surfaces of the potty. Let's talk about how Judah decided to give himself a bath to wash his poo-poo off his booty (points for effort).

Aaand let's talk about how Judah poured buckets, buckets of that bath water on the bathroom floor. But he didn't stop there, his glorious waves of poo water reached all the way from the tub to our bedroom.

I walked in to find a poo-covered toilet and waves of water cascading across the bathroom floor and onto the carpet where I stood.

Let me tell you, that was fun to clean up.

Okay, I may or may not have said the H-word.

It may or may not have sounded something like,

"Judah, WHAT THE ____ DID YOU DO??"

But, then, he gave me the cutest "Sorry, Mama. Sorry, Mama. Sorry, Mama," while giving me this look that said:

"I love you so much and you're the best mommy in the whole world."

(seriously, those were the look's exact words. don't question me on this.)

So then I wasn't mad anymore and I forgave him and told him this was very bad, and that I love him still.

The end.

Nap Time

Today when it was time for Judah's nap, I read him some books, sang "Jesus Loves Me" (his request at every bedtime), and kissed him good night.

Fast forward about 20 minutes into this "nap"...

I am sitting on the couch, enjoying some icebox cheesecake, thank you very much, when I hear noises coming from the other side of the door.

Crap.

I open the door to the sound of running water.
He's in the bathroom. CrapCrapCrap.

I found my darling child standing at the sink, washing shaving cream off of his arms and face. The toilet was filled with it, and the can itself was floating in the yucky, foamy water. Barf.
I took a deep breath, and bit my tongue.

Sometimes it's better to say nothing at all, than to completely lose your shit mind on your 2-year-old.

After washing up and drying off, Judah pointed to the toilet and in a solemn manner stated:
"I do that."

Indeed you did, my boy. Indeed, you did.

Epilogue: Judah is now sleeping soundly (and all the people said Amen). I have a very serious conversation planned for this afternoon. Something along the lines of,
"Never ever touch Daddy's shaving cream ever again, OR ELSE."

Lately...

Hey everybody! It's been a fun and eventful week around these parts, as Judah has begun preschool! Blake and I have decided to home school Judah, and I am excited for the adventures that await us in this process.

This week Judah learned the letters B & T, and the sounds they make. He can also count from 1-10 easily. He has known his colors for a while now, and we recite the alphabet every day. He loves learning new things, and it's been exciting to watch his mind grow! He also loves doing crafts: drawing, painting, etc.

Another hobby Judah has is jumping off of high surfaces. He likes to stack his step stool on top of our wooden chest and hurl himself at the ground. I must say, his balance and landing skills are quite impressive. He also likes to jump off of our bed onto the ground.

I was standing by the bed and Judah was standing on the bed, and I held out my arms to catch him. Instead of jumping to me, he reached out and pushed me away, saying "Back up, Mama." So, I took a few steps away, and he said, "More!" So, I back up even more, thinking he wanted to jump to the floor. He leaped at me like a monkey and I was barely able to catch him, I was so far away. Judah really likes a challenge, he likes to push himself physically to see how far he can go.

Snippets

Here's a little taste of what's to come...

Judah ran outside first thing this morning (the door was accidentally left unlocked), I ran after him and told him in a stern voice to get inside, NOW. He planted his feet next to the car and said, "I need to go to Target to get my band-aids, Mommy!" in this tone of voice that implied I was heartless and cruel, for not letting him drive himself to Target to buy band-aids...
__________

Judah used/wasted all his band-aids this morning, and then cried when I told him they were all gone. Then he asked for Buzz Lightyear band-aids. I told him I didn't have any. Then he smiled and said, "I do!" and I said "Really, where?" He grinned and said, "Target! We need to go get my Buzz band-aids at Target!" Sigh...
__________

Judah has skinned the same spot on the same knee 4 times now. He only cried this time. Poor baby.
__________

Judah said "I love you" to Blake today. so sweet.
__________

Me: Where are your shoes?
Judah: I peed in them.
...Awesome.
__________

You can lead a toddler to bed, but you can't make him sleep.
__________

It's one of THOSE days today.
Some highlights: tea spilled on the carpet, poop all over the toilet/tub/toothbrush, pee in various locations, lots of "NO" and "I don't WANT to!" from my boy-human. I need a nap, but he's fighting that, too.

What This Blog Is About

Hi there, I am Rose, wife of Blake & mama of Judah. At the request of some friends, I decided to create a blog to share funny and cute things about my son, Captain Judah.
(Yes, that's his actual, legal name.)

Basically, my kid does and says some crazy stuff, and to keep these stories to myself would be a tragic injustice to the world. I hope this blog will make you smile, while giving you a glimpse into my life as a Mama.

Thanks for reading!
